ROBERT V. PHILLIPS focuses his practice on catastrophic motor vehicle/18-wheeler collisions, medical malpractice and insurance litigation.  Mr. Phillips has tried to verdict numerous medical malpractice, auto/trucking and insurance cases in South Carolina and North Carolina and in both State and Federal Courts.  He has been innovative with the use of technology and multi-media platforms to fully illustrate the losses his clients have suffered.

Last year Mr. Phillips was elected by his fellow lawyers to serve on the Board of Governors for the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association.  In his capacity on the Board, Mr. Phillips works to prevent legislation that would restrict the rights of individuals who have have suffered catastrophic losses.

Robert was born in Huntsville, Alabama where he grew up playing junior tennis and ice hockey.  After becoming one of the top junior tennis players in the United States he attended Clemson University on a tennis scholarship.  After his junior year, he turned professional and competed on the ATP Tour (professional tennis tour).  While on tour he attained a ranking in the top 250 players in the world and won the Dutch National Team Championships with the 1996 Wimbledon Champion Richard Krajicek.  For five years he was also the team captain and number one player for a professional team in the French Premier Division.

After retiring from the tour, Robert returned to Clemson University where he completed his undergraduate studies.  He then returned to Lille, France and attended the Universite Catholique de Lille where he studied business for a year.  He then he returned to South Carolina and attended law school at USC.

When not practicing law, Robert spends his time snow skiing, playing in semi-professional tennis tournaments, competing in mini-triathlons and playing with his German Shepherd dog Heidi.  He is single and lives in the Charlotte, NC area.
