Anna Magann

Anna connects with each client on a personal level, because she believes that truly knowing the people she represents — their stories, their families, and their struggles — is what makes her a more effective advocate for their injuries.

Anna Magann

The fight is personal.

Anna Magann represents injured victims in medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases from the Myrtle Beach office of McGowan, Hood, Felder & Phillips. For Anna, the work is more than a practice area. It is a calling she spent the first years of her career searching for.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised for much of her childhood in Birmingham, Alabama, Anna is the daughter of a Lutheran pastor. Those roots introduced her to the Lutheran church’s educational institutions, and she attended one of them: Lenoir-Rhyne College (now Lenoir-Rhyne University) in Hickory, North Carolina, graduating in 2004 with a degree in business management and a minor in mathematics.

Anna went on to law school not yet certain she wanted to be a lawyer, but confident that a legal education would serve her well in whatever career she chose. She originally planned to stay in North Carolina and attend Wake Forest University, but with her parents newly settled in Newberry, South Carolina, she decided at the last minute to stay closer to home. The University of South Carolina School of Law graciously accommodated this change of plans, and she earned her Juris Doctor in 2007.

After law school, Anna moved to Myrtle Beach and began her career with a small local firm, practicing in the areas of homeowners associations, contract disputes, and collections. After six years of practice, Anna knew she sought a different area of practice: an area of the law where she could truly help people. In 2014, she found just that, joining McGowan, Hood, Felder & Phillips to fight for those harmed by the negligence of others.

Today, Anna advocates for patients and families whose lives have been upended by medical malpractice and catastrophic injury. Her peers have recognized that work with an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review rating for legal ability and ethical standards.

Beyond the courtroom.

Anna met her husband, John, after moving to the coast. John is a true local — born and raised in Murrells Inlet — and works at Cregger Company. Together they have three children: MaryHope, Andy, and Wally. The same passion Anna brings to representing injured victims serves her well in advocating for her children, who have several diagnoses and delays — an experience that gives her a firsthand understanding of what families navigating the medical system are up against.

When she isn’t working, Anna treasures time with her family and extended family, including neighbors and her church community. The Maganns attend Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, where Anna serves on the Board of Trustees. In the summers, the family spends long days on their boat enjoying coastal life. They share their home with four dogs, all adopted from All 4 Paws pet rescue.
